Grace & the Rizzak!

We had a lot of fun meeting up with Grace Yang of Grace Notes NYC yesterday and filming a demo of Dave preparing our classic Spicy Rizzak. Dave showed Grace the secret recipe to our spicy chiptole mayo (the one that gives the Rizzak that extra kick) and talked a bit about his history with the restaurant and all things Tiny's. The video should be ready in a week or two and we can't wait to show you! More on that soon.

Our neighbors Maryam Nassir Zadeh, just around the corner at 123 Norfolk Street, are having a summer sale. If you haven't been there, you absolutely have to stop in, and now you have the perfect excuse! The space is like a SoHo art gallery circa the 60's/70's - it is so well curated and Maryam's eye for textiles and textures truly flourishes there. Go have a look and take advantage of the opportunity to make off like a bandit, then stop by and show us what you got!

Our Po' Boys...

Take the edge off of Team USA's loss yesterday and drown your sorrows in the classic Chicken Po' Boy. Grilled chicken with a layer of delicious melted cheddar, garnished with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo and served up on a toasted sesame semolina hero or roll.  It tastes like home!

FanHouse.com - This is the perfect cheat sheet if you've missed the latest action and need the Cliff's notes.

Kickette.com - This one is for the ladies who love the soccer players a little more than the game itself. An irreverent feed of commentary and off the field photos of the boys who make the game so fun to watch.

Worldcupblog.org - A standard. Your mainline to all of the action.

Honey in the Rough!

Honey in the Rough, our neighbor at 161 Rivington, is having their annual summer sale now through August. Pop in NOW to find the cream of the crop as a huge selection of goodies (clothes, shoes, beauty) are marked 20-50% off (for the fellas: don't be afraid to stop in to find something special for your lady, they are super helpful). They stock an amazing supply of hard to find, independent designers and we're always happy to see Ashley (the owner) on the block! If you stop in, tell her we say hi!

Eat (& shop) well,

Tasty & Happy

Coming back to our weekly spotlight on each menu item (in an effort to remind you of all of the old friends you may have missed and new ones yet to be met) we are going to hop over to the salad side of the menu. Allow us to introduce the Spicy Rizzak of our leafy offerings: The Tiny's Tasty Happy Salad. A beautiful bed of fresh mixed greens covered with cucumbers, sprouts, carrots, onions, chick peas, huge slabs of avocado, and squares of swiss and cheddar cheese. Add turkey, tofu turkey, tofu bacon, tuna salad, grilled chicken or tofu chicken if you want to make it go the distance. Such a satisfying and refreshing dish that totally lives up to its name. Yum!

Mas World Cup!

So we are super bummed that the USA vs. Slovenia match airs at 10 am tomorrow (when we aren't open) because we just got a little TV set up to stream the games in the restaurant. What we are psyched about is that England vs. Algeria will show at 2:30, right during the lunch time swing. So stop in and catch some of the game with us tomorrow!

Shout it out.

We want to shout it out to our neighbors at Kropps & Bobbers who we have happily been delivering lunch to almost daily since the phone lines have been back up. If you're looking for a new do, check them out, people love them on yelp (and we love their name!).
We'd be happy to bring you lunch too, so give us a call us at 212 228 4919 and we'll hook you up!

Opening Ceremony.

In case you didn't catch it, some amazing images from the 2010 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony. Up today, Italy v. Paraguay. Who are you rooting for? Host a little sandwich face-off as you watch the game. Order a Southwestern Chicken sandwich, with a breaded chicken cutlet prepared in the milanesa style so popular with our Paraguayan friends, if you are for them. Or show your love for Italy with a classic Veggie Meatball or Chicken Parmesan sandwich. Either way, everyone's bellies win. May the games begin!

The Essex Street Maket, we hope to look that good at 70.

The beauty and the tragedy of New York City is that it is always changing. If you haven't been in a neighborhood for a few years, chances are half of the shops and restaurants you knew it for won't be there when you return. That is what makes longevity such an admirable trait in this town. In a city where storefronts turn over at head spinning rates, the ability of one business to sustain itself decade after decade is no small feat. In this vein, allow us to introduce our neighbor at the corner of Essex and Delancey, the landmark that is the Essex Street Market. Through many ups and downs, this space was brought back from the brink of extinction in the mid 90's and has since flourished and thrived, now housing a diverse and delicious roster of specialty food vendors serving everything from waffles to order, Porto Rico Coffee, fresh fish, meats & fine cheeses, to fresh produce and non-perishables. Stroll in Monday - Saturday from 8am - 7pm and see what we mean. You'll be happy that they stuck it out as long as they have (70 years!!!). We can only wish the same for our little shop.

WORLD CUP!

The 2010 World Cup in South Africa has begun! And as we write, team USA is facing off against England in what we like to call The Revolutionary War, PT. II. Now that we are delivering again, it's the perfect time to throw a little World Cup/Tiny's sandwich party. Nothing keeps the crowds sustained quite like a Spicy Rizzak or a Silly Philly. We can bring enough sandwich goodness to satisfy your carnivore & herbivore friends alike.

For all of you serious World Cup fanatics, check out the Guardian's live blog to keep up to the minute on all of the action. And of course, the amazingly comprehensive FIFA site.

Grand Opening.

Our neighbors Grand Opening, right down the block from us at 139 Norfolk Street, have an amazing ever evolving space that has transformed from a drive-in movie theater to an interactive dinner party, a trade school to a ping pong tournament, and so many other concepts. The collective behind the storefront reinvents their theme twice a year, starting from scratch each time. At only a few weeks old, their current installation of a functioning wedding chapel has us completely amazed. This would be such an amazing space to be married in, it's intimate, fun, fleeting, and unlike any other chapel we have seen. The idea of collaborating with them and their space through your big day is also pretty compelling. But, you will only have the chance for the next six months! You'll have to lock your situation down to make it in time. You and the wedding party are welcome to join us at Tiny's for a little post-ceremony sammy reception.

Eat (and marry) well,

Tiny's
